Alexandra Skillman: Strategy, Traditional & Social Media
Alex began her career as an intern at Walt Disney Studios while finishing up her senior year of college. Her dream was to produce feature films and work in the entertainment industry. After graduating and continuing to work in film production on such films as Crimson Tide and The Rock, she received the call regarding an opening in television publicity and jumped at the chance to put her creative juices to work. It was there she started honing her marketing and public relations skills of brand development, strategic media relations and event production. Her creative nature has helped successfully launch many consumer and technology products for the last 15 years.
Throughout her years she has been fortunate to work on well known TV shows such as Home Improvement or video game franchises like The Sims, but it were the lesser known TV Shows and products that brought the most joy because to get a segment producer at Access Hollywood or to a reporter at the New York Times to cover them brought the most satisfaction and sense of accomplishment. It was through her smart key messaging and creativity that enabled these lesser known products to be prominently placed in the media. Through her comprehensive, strategic marketing campaigns, Alex has accumulated millions of impressions in the media through press placements. A sampling of the ones she is most proud of are placing the video game, The Sims 2 in Teen Vogue, it was the first video game the magazine ever covered. In addition, she placed features stories and reviews of the game in top consumer publications including the Financial Times, Elle, and receiving “Game of the Year” from Time Magazine. Alex has not only enjoyed success with consumer products, but with technology products as well. Conveying the intangible to the press, can be challenging, but with the proper strategy, the technology can shine on its own, as Alex achieved with USA Today prominently featuring one of her client’s inventions. Lastly one of her greatest media achievements was getting a rare vivid orange diamond featured on the Today Show on Halloween by coining it the “World’s Million Dollar Pumpkin.” Besides traditional media, Alex has enthusiastically embraced social media. You can often find her on Facebook, Twitter and Foiur Square. Social media is a must for most companies today and Alex has successfully managed many social media campaigns for a variety of companies. Alex received her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, lives in San Francisco and loves traveling, fashion, cooking and experiencing the newest restaurants with friends.
